Gladys Faye Farrand, 78, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. (Cremation). Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Gladys was born June 3, 1933 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Freeman Newton and Lillie Mae (Friend) Roloson. She was a graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph, MO. She married William Edward "Ed" Farrand on October 6, 1987 in Miami, OK.
Gladys had lived in the Kansas City, MO area before moving to Harrisonville. She had worked for John Knox Village for 25 years before retiring, starting out as an aide, then as a medical technician and also as a unit secretary. After retiring she worked in the home health care field for several years.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lois M. Hawkins Cox and her husband, Ed on December 11, 1999. She is survived by three sons, Bill Banks, Independence, MO, Tim W. Lyon, De Kalb, IL and Freeman A. Banks, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Laura R. Cassidy, Pleasant Hill, MO; four grandchildren, Samantha, Anthony, Jacob and Joe and six great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Ian, Nathanial, Arilyn, Taylor and Bryson.
