Gerald "Gary" Gustave Ferrou, 73, of Houston, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services were held  on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in  Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville.  Contributions can be made in Gary's honor to Fraternal Order of Eagles #3911, 6954 S. Highway 63, Houston, MO 65483.

Gary was born September 6, 1949 in Harrisonville, MO, a son of Marvin John and Clara Lucille (Tieman) Ferrou.  The family lived in Garden City, MO, before moving to Harrisonville in the late 1950's.  Gary was a 1967 graduate of Harrisonville High School and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO from 1967-1970.

Gary loved music, was a guitarist, and had played with many bands, including "The Electrons", and "The Group".  He served in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1969-1975. Throughout his career, he worked for Ericsson Cable in Harrisonville, Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals in Kansas City, and the Belton, MO School District before his retirement.  He was a lifelong Cass County, MO resident until moving to Houston, MO in 2008.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Houston.  Gary loved to play shuffleboard. He won many championships throughout the state, including the Missouri Shuffleboard Association Division 1 singles state championship in 2005, 2008 and 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Marvin and Lucille; former spouse, Sandy Hatfield; and a daughter, Alecia Andrews. He is survived by a daughter, Shanna Burns, Platte City, MO; five grandchildren; many cousins, and many, many friends.
