George Robert Davis, 85, Kansas City, MO, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19 at Blue Ridge Baptist Temple, 10306 Blue Ridge, Kansas City, MO 64134 with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Kansas City, 1001 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 180, Kansas City, MO 64131.

George was born November 8, 1925 in West Line, MO, the son of Thomas F. and Opal (Smith) Davis. He was a WWII Navy veteran. While in the Navy, he met Della "Bobbe" Hutchison and they were united in marriage on April 21, 1946. George worked as a meat cutter for Milgram's Food Store for 36 years. He then worked in the transportation department for John Knox Village in Lee's Summit for 15 years.

George and Bobbe have been members at Blue Ridge Baptist Temple in Kansas City since 1967. George loved to watch sports and spend time with his grandchildren. He fought a long and courageous battle with bone cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobbe, of the home; one daughter, Terri Vaught, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Hazel Thomas, Freeman, MO; three grandchildren, Neil Vaught and his wife, Kaycie, Brett Vaught and his wife, Jennifer and Rebekah McLain and her husband, Andrew; two great-grandsons, Ian and Jace and a great-granddaughter, Kylee, who is due in March.
