Obituary

George C. Bielski, 86, Drexel, MO, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, MO with burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, August 31 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville.

George was born March 24, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Stanley and Stella (Horonzewicc) Bielski. He married Josephine "JoAnn" Ann Kubiak on June 7, 1974 in Manhattan, New York. He had lived in New Jersey before moving to Drexel, MO in 1985.

George was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion in New Jersey, the DAV of Kansas City and the Local #6301 United Steel Workers. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville. He worked as an inspector for American Can Company in New Jersey, a tin can manufacturer, for 27 years before retiring in 1978.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Josephine "JoAnn" Bielski on January 1, 1999 and two sisters, Josephine Reda and Theresa Golik. He is survived by one stepson, Stanley Lukowski and his wife, Fran, Lee's Summit, MO; one stepdaughter, Jeanette Sclafani, Bellerose, NY; 8 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
