Obituary

Gene Floyd O'Bannon, 82, East Lynne, MO, died Monday, January 1, 2007 at Camden Health Care Center, Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services were held Friday, January 5 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, officiated by Pastor Richard Schrock, Garden City, MO. Music by Jim Schrock, David Schrock and Judy Schrock, vocalists and Rosella Schrock, pianist. Burial was in Grant Cemetery, Creighton, MO. Casket bearers were Chuck Feagley, Larry Guggisberg, Terry Faulkenberry, Tommie Faulkenberry, Ricky Schmoll and David Carnes.

Gene was born February 11, 1924 in the Dover district, north of Creighton, MO, the son of George Floyd and Emma Faye (Chisler) O'Bannon. At the age of 10 months, he moved with his family to New Mexico. They spent three years there before moving back to Missouri.

Gene married Thelma Rea on March 29, 1944. They farmed near Leeton and East Lynne, later moving to East Lynne where he worked at the elevator there. Gene was a feed salesman for Quisenberry Mills in Kansas City and later worked for the water department in East Lynne.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Cox Smith and one granddaughter, Janet L. Green. He leaves his wife, Thelma, of the home; two daughters, Jeanetta and her husband, Justin and Anna; two sisters, LaDon Townsend and Edna Lee Emick, both of Urich, MO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Gene was a fun-loving and friendly person to everyone.
