Gene H. Gillaspie, Jr., 48, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, February 11, 2008 at his home. Funeral services 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Visitation 6:00-7:30 PM Friday, February 15 at the chapel. Contributions may be made to the Gene Gillaspie memorial fund.

Gene was born May 30, 1959 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Gene H. and Ruby Jane (VanHooser) Gillaspie. He attended Harrisonville High School. He married Julie Laura Jeppesen on February 23, 1981 in Miami, OK. Gene was a painter.

Gene was a wonderful father. He collected Hot Wheels, Zippo lighters and beer steins. He enjoyed his dog, Gizmo.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Julie, on March 12, 2006, one sister, Shari Gillaspie-Davis and one sister-in-law, Hope Gillaspie. He is survived by three sons, Nathan Gillaspie and his wife, Shilo, and their two children, Samuel and Jacob, Rich Hill, MO, Jaron Gillaspie, Fort Scott, KS and Ethan Gillaspie, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Janae Gillaspie, Harrisonville, MO; his father, Gene Gillaspie, Sr., Independence, MO; his mother, Ruby Jane Gillaspie, Harrisonville, MO and one brother, Rick Gillaspie, Springfield, MO.
