Gary Lee Carter, 50, of Adrian, Missouri, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. No visitation. Gary was born October 23, 1961, in Lake Village, Arkansas, to Ernie and Vera Carter. He moved to Adrian at the age of 13, along with his father. Throughout his life, Gary had many unique experiences, including working in an oil field in Oklahoma, working as a piano mover, and doing fiberglass repair on boats. In his early twenties, Gary began working for KCPL in La Cygne, KS, where he would work for more than twenty years. Gary and Laurie were married shortly after beginning work at KCPL, and raised two children together.

Gary was a simple man who would always say exactly what he thought. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, and spending time with his babies. He was always there to help out someone in need. His courageous battle throughout his extended illness served to reinforce his hero status in the eyes of his family. He is and will continue to be greatly missed.

Gary is survived by his wife, Laurie; a son, Clayton; a daughter, Kirsten; four grandchildren, Kian, Aidan, Lilly, and Conner; his brother, Phillip and wife, Sue; and several nieces and nephews.
