Garold Woodard Whitehead, 94, Adrian, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, January 28 at Altona Baptist Church in Altona, Missouri. (No visitation). Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Garold was born April 13, 1918 in Altona, Missouri, the son of John Bertus and Bright Ray (Woodard) Whitehead. After graduating from Adrian High School, he served in the Navy for three years. While on leave from the Navy he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Hill, on January 24, 1943, and returned two days later to finish his naval service. After returning home he farmed until he retired in 1981.

He was a lifelong member and deacon in the Altona Baptist Church. His faith, family and farming were the priority of his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of his garden and especially his grandchildren.

Garold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his children, Neal Whitehead and wife, June of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Tim Whitehead and wife, Teresa of Oak Grove, Missouri and Leann Cumpton and husband, Dale of Adrian, Missouri; six grandchildren, Aaron, Amy, Collin, Ethan, Wyatt and Wade; two step-grandchildren, Bryan and Amanda; one step-great-grandchild, Isabella.
