Freda Marie (Flanery) Cummings, 89, of Grandview, MO, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Carnegie Village in Belton, MO. Funeral services were held  on Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial  in Freeman Cemetery,  Freeman, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to American Heart Association or Crossroads Hospice in Freda's name.

Freda was born May 2, 1934, in Freeman, MO, a daughter of William R. and Bernice M. (Brown) Flanery. She was a 1952 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Freda was united in marriage to Walter Price "Pete" Cummings on September 12, 1953, at the home of Rev. Joe Brewster in Harrisonville. They made their home in Grandview for over 60 years.

There was nothing more important to Freda than her family. She loved taking care of children and helped raise not only her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, but also many children of family friends. As a member of the Grandview First Baptist Church, she worked in the nursery each Sunday taking care of the babies.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and her husband, Walter "Pete" Cummings on March 16, 2013. She is survived by two sons: Robert Cummings (Barb), St. Paul, MO; and David Cummings (Lori), Lee's Summit, MO; one daughter, Kathy Cummings, Lee's Summit, MO; one brother, John Flanery (Shara), Archie, MO; brother-in-law, Bob Brown, Archie, MO; one sister, Sue Pippen, Archie, MO; seven grandchildren: Tony Cummings (Santana), Casey Myers, Jake Cummings (Meagan), Beth Waechter (Rex), Michelle Cummings, Macy Cummings, and Brady Cummings; and seven great-grandchildren: Kale Kocourek, Lillix Sodders, Kaydence Sodders, Ivan Waechter, Griffin Waechter, Lincoln Waechter, and Avalynn Waechter.
