Frank Ernest Runnenburger, III, 80, Los Lunas, New Mexico, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died June 8, 2012 in Los Lunas after an extended illness. Memorial/graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Frank was born April 3, 1932 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of Frank Ernest and Mary Brierly "Mary B." (Haynes) Runnenburger, Jr. Frank was a 1950 graduate of Harrisonville High School. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Mortuary Science. He joined the family business, Runnenburger Furniture Store and Funeral Home, in 1958, and was the third generation in the business.
Frank was active in community activities, including chairman of the Log Cabin Festival, past president of the Harrisonville Kiwanis Club, and was past commander of the Harrisonville American Legion Post 42. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the Harrisonville Volunteer Fire Department.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sabra Peak. He is survived by a son, Stephen Lee Runnenburger, Harrisonville, Missouri; a daughter, Beth Ann Newton and husband, Gary, Columbia, Missouri; one sister, Carolyn Hasek, Harrisonville, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Danielle Ryan and Samantha and Benjamin Newton, all of Columbia, Missouri.
