Frances "Fran" Mercer, 89, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, MO. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Fran was born January 23, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of Arlee and Florene (Wigington) Holiman. She grew up in Kansas City, MO, was a graduate of Manuel High School in Kansas City. Fran married Joseph Wade Mercer on February 27, 1954 in Kansas City, and they made their home in Kansas City before moving to Harrisonville in 1968.

Fran had worked as the secretary to the president of Western Auto in Kansas City and also in Harrisonville as a telephone operator. She was the church secretary at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville until her retirement. Fran was an avid bowler and played in many leagues in Harrisonville and Adrian. Her hobbies included numerous arts and crafts projects.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe, on December 24, 2009;  a son, Kirk Mercer, in 1998; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by one son, Jerry Mercer (Lynn), Fulton, TX; one brother, Jimmie Holiman (Alveta), Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Patricia Boone, Belton, MO; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
