Frances Roberta Groves, 86, of Adrian, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Medicalodge of Butler in Butler, Missouri. A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Memorial donations are suggested to Crescent Hill Cemetery.
Frances was born on March 15, 1934 in Jerico Springs, Missouri, a daughter of Charley and Melva (West) Freedle. Frances was united in marriage to Wayne Groves on December 31, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas. The two eloped and enjoyed a marriage of 51 years before Wayne preceded her in death on July 27, 2003. Frances owned and operated the Homestead House restaurant for 8 years in the 1970's. She was a founding member of the Victory Assembly of God Church in Adrian and enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher. She was well-known and admired for the meticulous care of her yard, tireless in her never-ending battle against tree leaves in the fall, and fearsome against pesky squirrels.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Meredith Freedle. She is survived by her sons: Larry Groves of Harrisonville, MO, and Ronald Groves of Grandview, MO; her sister-in-law, Janice Freedle of Auburn, Washington; and three grandchildren: Stephen, Emily, and Charley.
