Forrest Gene Chaney, 75, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville. No services. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Gene was born February 28, 1931 in Skidmore, MO, the son of Forest Merle and Opal (Mayes) Chaney. He was a graduate of Skidmore High School. Gene was a Korea War Navy veteran.

Gene married Phyllis Ann Metzgar on May 10, 1955. They lived in Mound City, MO before moving to Warsaw in 1995. They later moved to La Feria, TX and had just recently moved to Harrisonville. Gene had worked for Kansas City Power & Light as a meter reader for 30 years before retiring.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; one daughter, Terry Corless and her husband, Jim, Harrisonville, MO; two brothers, Lee Roy Chaney, El Dorado Springs, MO and Richard Chaney, Skidmore, MO; two grandchildren, Seth and Cali and one great-granddaughter, Lilli.
