Fern Ashby, 79, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. (Cremation following services). Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans (DAV), Chapter 67, 302 South Jackson, Archie, MO 64725.

Fern was born August 22, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of James Melvin and Gladys Pauline (Long) Anders. She lived in Jackson County, Missouri until 1964 when she moved to Peculiar. She moved to Harrisonville in 1984.

Fern had worked at Dean Marble in Peculiar, Missouri, as a marble fabricator for 10 years. She married James Ashby on November 3, 1984 in Nevada, Missouri. She loved spending time with her family.

Fern is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home; two sons, Lance Hash and wife, Julie, St. Charles, MO and Jason Austin and wife, Mary, Peculiar, MO; two daughters, Stephanie Jones and husband, Tom, Cleveland, MO and Karen Hoskins, Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Ray Anders and wife, Dee, Archie, MO; two sisters, Shirley Perry, Peculiar, MO and Patricia Baldwin, Harrisonville, MO; and her angels, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
