Fay Elizabeth (Dean) Archer, 92, Smithville, MO, died March 9, 2018, in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held Tuesday March 13, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Contributions may be made to charity of choice.
Fay was born November 6, 1925 in Boonville, MO, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Gensler) Dean. She married John Elliot Archer. Fay worked for Kansas City Poster until her retirement. In her younger years she combined in Oklahoma. Her interests included visiting family, friends, searching thrift stores and garage sales for treasures. Along with raising her sons, she also helped raise two generations of grandchildren. She was the Matriarch of the family. She was strong-willed, honest (will really tell you how it is), tough, supportive, and she survived the great depression and the dustbowl. She loved fishing, dancing, playing cards, listening to music, and bird watching. She also enjoyed westerns and Dr. Phil.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, one sister, Emma, and one brother, Jake. She is survived by two sons, John Archer, Jr. (Sylvia), Climax Springs, MO, and George Archer, Gladstone, MO; 3 grandchildren, Melinda Dray (Lawrence), Smithville, MO, Stephanie Martin (Chris), Piedmont, OK, and Laura Nelson, Smithville, MO; and 5 great-grandchildren, Sierra Dray, Yukon, OK, Shelby Dray, Plattsburg, MO, Kurstin Martin, Piedmont, OK, Lauren and Jacob Nelson, Smithville, MO.
Her beautiful life will be remembered by her family and friends.
