Evelyn Mae Johnson, 84, Freeman, Missouri, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery.
Evelyn was born July 23, 1931 in Garden City, Missouri, the daughter of John and Edna (Palmer) Ritter. She married Howard Lee Johnson on March 6, 1948. She was a lifelong Cass County, Missouri resident. Evelyn was baptized on October 8, 1967, and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Evelyn was a homemaker. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard on March 25, 1989, two sisters, Eleanor Hughes and Dorothy Pickens, and a half-brother, Michael O. Kenagy. She is survived by her children, Howard Lee "PeeWee" Johnson, Jr. (Carla), Independence, Missouri, Kathy Bryant, Harrisonville, Missouri, and Darrell W. Johnson, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one brother, John "Buddy" Ritter, Jr. (Edwinna), Harrisonville, Missouri; one sister, Naomi Palo, Harrisonville, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Poppie, Cheryl Estes (Larry), Steven Bryant (Jennifer), Billy Johnson (Melissa), Tammy Johnson, Faith Wuestling (Greg); 14 great-grandchildren, Justine, Veronica, Cory, Taylor, Hailey, Fallon, Emanuel "E-man", C. J., Jonathan, Jacob, Brittany, Alicia, Avery, and Preston; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
