Eula May Akers, 92, Kansas City, Missouri, died November 25, 2017 at Advanced Healthcare in Overland Park, Kansas. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Contributions may be made to the Freeman Cemetery Association.
Eula was born February 13, 1925, near Drexel, MO, the daughter of Richard Allen and Florence May (Moyer) Hatch. On November 10, 1946, she married Travis F. Akers in Kansas City, MO.
Eula enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor, and caring for relatives in need. She enjoyed family dinners and encouraging the grandkids. Everyone knew it was time to eat when she would say, "OK, kids dig in!" In past years, she enjoyed antiquing, piecing and hand quilting quilts,and traveling to Europe with her sisters. One of her proudest accomplishments was volunteering at Research Medical Center for 29 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Travis, in 2008; her parents; and 4 siblings, Geneva Allene Terrell, John Wesley Hatch, her twin Eugene Allen Hatch, and Carol Elizabeth Hatch.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne Akers and his wife, Barbara, Marion, KS, and Gary Akers and his wife, Jan, Prairie Village, KS; six grandchildren, Lori Soo Hoo and her husband, Joel, Hillsboro, KS, Jon Akers and his wife, Ashley Meagher, Seattle, WA, Adam Akers and his wife, Albena, Wichita, KS, Tia Regier and her husband, Matt, Matfield Green, KS, Gena Dellett and her husband, Tim, Lawrence, KS, and Paul Akers, Big Rapids, MI; seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Akers, Claudia Soo Hoo, Eliot Regier, Lyda Regier, Talon Soo Hoo, Ira Dellett, Ellis Dellett; 5 siblings, Harold Lee Hatch, Harrisonville, Harry Dale Hatch, Locust Grove, GA, Margaret Ellen McRae, LaCygne, KS, Wilma Jean Hodge, Aberdeen, WA and Vivian Rose Sickman, Flemington, MO.
