Eugene "Eaf" D. McKee, 80, of Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6 at the chapel. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Baptist Church, P.O. Box 187, Freeman, MO 64746.
Eaf was born November 12, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Jeptha Cleveland and Nora Lillian (Robinson) McKee. He attended Corinth Grade School in Kansas City, MO before moving to Archie. He was a 1947 graduate of Archie High School. He attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO.
Eaf married Ruth Brewster on April 14, 1951 at the Freeman Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Joe Brewster, before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War. Eaf and his brother, Gilbert, owned and operated McKee Quarries for 37 years, 1953-1990, before selling the business in May of 1990. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Eaf was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gilbert J. McKee. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; one son, David McKee and his wife, LeeAnn and one daughter, Debbie Walker and her husband, John, all of Harrisonville, MO; three grandchildren, Daniel McKee, Tara McKee and Katie Walker and his beloved dog, Natalie.
