Ernest Everett Winchel, 96, Harrisonville, MO, formerly of Peculiar, MO, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville. Services 10:30 AM Saturday, December 15 at the First Baptist Church, Peculiar. Burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at the chapel. Contributions to Crossroads Hospice or Peculiar First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Ernest was born March 18, 1911 in Freeman, MO, the son of Samuel Alexander and Margie Katherine(Nelson) Winchel. He was a lifelong Cass County area resident. Ernest married Marguerite Mae Flanery on August 2, 1934. She died on June 1, 1989. He married LaVerna (Rodgers) McAnally on September 29, 1991. She died on December 3, 2006.

Ernest worked for Bendix for 20 years before retiring in 1971. He was also a farmer. Ernest was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents and his two wives, Marguerite and LaVerna. He is survived by four sons, Raymond Winchel, Harrisonville, MO, Harold Winchel, Stillwell, KS, Robert Winchel, Wellsville, KS and Donald Winchel, Peculiar, MO; two daughters, Darlene Coleman, Peculiar, MO and Retha Cohee, Franklin, TN; two sisters, Margie Barr, Peculiar, MO and Martha Woodring, Harrisonville, MO; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
