Erma Lee Woody, 97, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Redwood of Raymore in Raymore, MO. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO, alongside her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to Shalom Hospice.

Erma was born June 18, 1925 to Eury and Lola (Wilkerson) Shaw in St. Clair County, MO. She attended school in Osceola, MO, and completed her high school education at UCM adult education. She loved her career as a medical assistant and retired from the Louisburg Medical Clinic.

Erma met her husband, James Woody, in 1943 in Osceola, MO. He was on leave from the Navy and it was love at first sight. They were married May 10, 1943. They had two children, Larry and Peggy, and helped to raise their nephew, Jim. Erma loved children and she was a mother figure to all. Erma nurtured her children and grandchildren and taught them many things, her greatest lesson being how to love unconditionally.

Erma loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing and animals. She liked to travel and loved their lake home. Anyone who knew Erma will remember how much she loved candy. Erma was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Peggy Melton; her nephew, Jim Shaw; a grandson, Corbin Melton; and her siblings. She is survived by her son, Larry Woody; four grandchildren: Jesse Shaw (Sheldon), Kourtney Bruns (Dustin), Lindsey Shaw and Tomi Melton; 9 great-grandchildren: Devin, Dillan, Payton, Michael, Lily, Alaina, Addison, Kinley and Karter.
