Erma Fay Ranes, 87, Independence, MO, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Carmel Hills Living Center, Independence, MO. Funeral services 11:00 AM Monday, May 7, 2007 at the chapel at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS with burial to follow.
Erma was born December 4, 1919 in Excelsior Springs, MO, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Mary E. (Swope) Schooling. She married Harold Timothy Ranes on December 18, 1940 in Kingston, MO.
Erma lived in Excelsior Springs, Warsaw, MO, Raymore, MO and Harrisonville, MO before moving to Independence several years ago. Erma had worked as a meter maid and had also worked at the Lake City Ammunitions Plant during WWII, later becoming a nursing home administrator.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold on November 22, 1993 and one granddaughter, Debbie Lyn Beerbaur. She is survived by one daughter, Mary E. Swoger and her husband, James, Peculiar, MO; one sister, Francis Parker; three grandchildren, Carl, Timothy and Tonya; 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
