Eric "Yuk" Douglas Sechrest, 53, West Line Missouri, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri, with many family and friends at his side.
Eric was born January 9, 1963 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of Patricia Richardson Sechrest and Duane Sechrest. He was a lifelong resident of West Line, Missouri. Eric was a graduate of the Class of 1981 from Cass Midway School, where many of his closest friends attended with him the entire 12 years, and were at his bedside to the end.
Eric had various jobs throughout his life and a few of his favorites were, Special T Pallet Co., Ericsson Fiber Optics, 7th Heaven Record Store, Accura Construction, Cass Midway School, Cass County Assessor's Office and serving as a city Councilman for The Village of West Line. Eric's hobbies included a deep passion for music, starting with drumming, dating back to elementary school, which led him to be involved in many aspects of music, and also being a mentor to many young people and musicians. He was also passionate about many other things in life such as dogs, mostly his beloved Sophie, being with family and friends, playing Frisbee, skateboarding, playing pool, photography, mechanics, electronics, computers, etc., and especially installing car stereo systems for many people. He was very accomplished in all of these. Other things he loved were the bands, Rush and ELO, wrinkled T-shirts, shorts and bare feet (year around), RSO, chocolate milk, and last, but certainly not least, BUICKS.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steve Lyon, niece, Lindsay Barrett, great-nephew, Michael Clary, and his beloved Sophie. He is survived by his sister, Donna Barrett and husband, Ray, and brother, Bob Lyon and wife, Lori, all of West Line Missouri; sisters, Vicki Lyon of Drexel, Missouri, and Lori Brock of Cleveland, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Gail Lyon of West Line; 23 nieces and nephews; 28 great-nieces and great-nephews; 10 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, and 1 great-niece to be born soon; many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Eric was truly a unique person and he will be missed by all.
