Eric David James, 60, of Kansas City, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 21, 2021 with his wife by his side. Memorial services celebrating his life were held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Crest Bible Church, 8715 W 49th Terr, Merriam, KS 66203.
Eric was born on September 2nd, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Robert H James and Mary Ruth Schad. He grew up in Kansas City where he was a 1978 graduate of Ruskin High School. He was an air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force from 1984 to 1989, where he served at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi. He had three children from his first marriage. He was married to Aimee Walker on July 16th, 2005. After many interesting jobs including car sales, school bus driving, delivering lost airline luggage, and professional poker playing, Eric became an over the road truck driver in 2010. He and his wife, Aimee, traveled the country together driving their truck and spreading God's word to people along the way. He started his own company in 2018 as Day Star Trucking. He loved traveling and being on the road with his wife. They drove in 49 states including Alaska and also in 8 Canadian provinces, including Newfoundland. They had many adventures and he always shared God's word and handed out King James Bibles wherever they went. They recently had the opportunity to buy a house and live with his oldest son, three grandchildren and brother, near Buckner, MO. Eric was passionate about God and studying and teaching His word. He loved his family and his home town and always cheered for the Chiefs, Royals and Missouri Tigers.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Kinley Pinkley. He is survived by his wife, Aimee; his two sons: Evander James and Ryan James; his daughter, Tonya James; his two grandsons: Mattix James and Edison James; his granddaughter, Emersen James; his two sisters: Naomi Hawes and Cindy Bloss; his brother, Michael James; his lifelong friend, Jerry (Kelly) Besaw; his in-laws: Lance and Linda Ruth, and Ron Walker; his sister-in-laws: Kimberly (Dillon) Savard, Christie Ruth, and Amie (Matthew) Wright; his brother-in-law, Joshua (Melissa) Ruth; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
He will be missed by all those who knew him, whether they are remembering his many "dad jokes" and personality, or his passion for God, he left an imprint on everyone's life he came across.
