Elsie was born January 13, 1918 in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Steven A. and Josephine (Anderson) Garfield. Elsie married Chester E. McFall in Nevada. They moved to Harrisonville from Kansas City in 1957, fulfilling a long held dream of returning to the farm. Both of them had grown up on farms in southern Missouri, where they had many happy memories. Elsie's life on this small farm turned out to be the happiest years of her life.
Being a mother was very important to Elsie, and she had put her whole self into the job; also, working as a Den Mother and Cub Scout leader. Elsie loved to cook, keep house, raising chickens and working in her garden. She loved making beautiful quilts for her family. She took great love and pride in spending time with her family and grandchildren, cooking many Sunday dinners. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, decorating her tree and preparing Christmas dinner. Her children will always remember how she brought holidays to life. Elsie will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chester, on April 25, 1985, a sister, Dolly, two brothers, Harry and Steven Garfield and a stepson, Buddy G. McFall.
