Obituary

Ellsworth L. Flippin, 92, Archie, Missouri, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home in Archie.  Funeral services were held Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial and a graveside service were held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Climax Springs Cemetery, Climax Springs, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice.

Ellsworth was born September 10, 1926 in Green Ridge, Missouri, son of Oscar and Goldie Bell (Kindle) Flippin.  He was an Army Veteran of WW II and served from December 1944 to November 1946.  After his discharge, Ellsworth moved to Windsor, MO and worked for the Shoe Factory Co.  While working there, he met his future wife, Mary Lou Gray.  They were united in marriage on July 3, 1948 in Clinton, MO.

They lived in Lake Lotawana, MO until moving to Climax Springs, MO, where Ellsworth was a home builder and farmed.  They later moved to Lee's Summit, MO where Ellsworth worked as a letter carrier and finally in maintenance for the Independence, MO Post Office.  After his retirement in 1986, Ellsworth and Mary Lou moved to The Lake of The Ozarks and then to Arizona.  They moved to Archie in 2006 to be closer to the family.  Ellsworth was a Baptist, and had attended First Baptist Church in Archie.

Ellsworth was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Mary Lou, on May 25, 2017.  He is survived by one son, Darrell Flippin (Sandy), Kansas City, KS; two daughters, Debbie Dalton, Raymore, MO, and Denise Lough (Loren), Lee's Summit, MO; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
