Elba Elmer Hershberger, 94, of Hesston, Kansas, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, June 27, 2008 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City, MO. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Monday, June 30, at the chapel.
Elba was born July 1, 1913 near Latour, Missouri, the son of Samuel and Mabel Alice (Hartzler) Hershberger. He had lived in Harrisonville most of his life before moving to Hesston seven years ago. He was united in marriage to Dollie Anna Landis on October 9, 1945.
Elba was a member of the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Garden City. He worked for Scavuzzo's Grocery Store on the Harrisonville Square for forty years before his retirement.
Elba was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Hershberger, who died November 14, 2007, his parents, two brothers, Ralph Hershberger and Irvin Hershberger and three sisters, Laura Hershberger, Ruth Hershberger and Alma Mast. He is survived by four sons, Eldon Hershberger, Belton, MO, Myron Hershberger, Canon City, CO, Richard Hershberger, Orrick, MO and Sherwin Hershberger, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Marcia Lightcap, Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Herman Hershberger, Hesston, KS; one sister, Lela Stutsman, Kinross, IA; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
