Edward Warner Allen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of 76 in Raymore, Missouri. Family and friends celebrated Edward's life and paid their respects during a visitation and funeral service on Friday, June 6, 2025, both at Crossroads in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial donations are suggested to the family.
Edward (Eddy) Warner Allen was born on December 29, 1948, in the home of loving parents Alvard O. Allen Sr. and Ruth A. Gravette in Harrisonville, MO. He, alongside his identical twin brother, Edwin Lee Allen, and sister, Esther Marie Allen, was recognized as one of the town's first triplets - a joyful moment in local history celebrated by the city in the Cass County Democrat Missourian Newspaper. Years later, Eddy and his siblings made history again by integrating the Harrisonville Cass R-IX School District in 1954.
In high school, Eddy was a standout athlete, serving as captain of the Harrisonville High School football team. He was also a varsity letterman in track, earning various medals in the 100, 220, 440, and half-mile events before graduating with his brother and sister in 1966.
In 1970, he was united in holy matrimony with Bonnie Holliday. From this union, the parents lovingly welcomed three daughters: Katina, Clarrissa, and Candace.
A wordsmith and a man of high intelligence, Eddy earned a double master's degree in public administration and education from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He also dedicated part of his life to military service as a member of the U.S. Army and ROTC at Lincoln University.
Among Eddy's many life accomplishments was his stellar career in politics. After a family fire tragedy, Eddy found solace in the local Republican Party, later holding multiple prestigious political positions: 1979 Harrisonville Ward Alderman, White House Cabinet Appointee for the Department of Labor under Elizabeth Dole, 1985 Electoral College Member, and 1986 Chairman Commissioner of the Missouri Commission on Human Rights.
Eddy was appointed as the Director of Labor Relations for the Kansas City Department of Labor by President Ronald Reagan and worked alongside many dignitaries, including Senator Kit Bond, Senator Ike Skelton, Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver, former Governor John Ashcroft, AdHoc Against Crime Community Leader Alvin Brooks, Kansas Senator Bob Dole, and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He was a 1986 Inaugural Ball Admittee and met Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.
Dedicated to making a positive difference, Eddy showed an unwavering commitment to honoring and uplifting the Black community. His standout efforts included his work in writing Missouri's Martin Luther King Jr. Day Bill, signed and made into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983. As Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday local Chairman, Eddy recognized luminaries like Stevie Wonder, Roots author Alex Haley and his proudest moment, honoring his own mother, Ruth Allen, for her service to the community.
He will always be remembered for his deep spirituality and commitment to family, education, and service. He was a proud father to his three daughters and a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren.
His father, Alvard; mother, Ruth; brothers: Dallas, Edwin, and Roland "Butch;" sister, Esther; and grandson, Lorenzo "Jr" Williams, preceded him in death. He touched many lives during his time on earth and will be greatly missed by his daughters: Katina Williams-Allen, Clarrissa Allen, and Candace Allen; ex-wife, Bonnie Holliday Allen Bauer; sisters, Burma Allen Rimpson and Dorothy Allen; brother, Leon Arthur Allen; nephew, Chad Darcy Allen; nieces, Mickey Rimpson and Yvette Rimpson; grandsons: Carlton Allen, Collin Allen, Christopher Allen, Ckhai Allen, and Chase Allen; granddaughters, Kelsey J. Williams and Kaitlyn J. Williams; great-grandchildren: Mya, Mila, Layla, Kai, and Kingston; cousins: Mary Ellen, Judy Allen, Charles Allen, Karen Sneed, Theresa Shobe, Leonard Allen; and a host of family and friends.
