Dulcie Viola Rice, 80, Butler, MO, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Willow Lane Nursing Center, Butler, MO. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, MO, officiated by Rev. James Stanfield-Myers, Ohio Street United Methodist Church, Butler. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Honorary casketbearers were Mitch Potter, Kerry Gordon, Gary Gordon and Ronnie Gordon. Casketbearers were Ed Rice, Brad Potter, Jerry Gordon, Bob Gordon, Rick Gordon and Kenton Gordon. Contributions may be made to the Ohio Street United Methodist Church or Children's Mercy Hospital.
Dulcie was born February 14, 1926 in Sheldon, MO, the daughter of Clarence A. and Mattie Mae (Stone) Gordon. She married Marvin Rice on November 21, 1943. Unto this union two children were born, Terry and Susie.
Dulcie was a member of the Ohio Street United Methodist Church. She owned the Mode O Day in Butler and did child care for many years. She enjoyed camping, quilting and cooking favorite foods for her family. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dulcie was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Willis, Glenn and Paul. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marvin, of the home; one son, Terry Rice and wife, Sandy, Butler, MO; one daughter, Susie King and husband Phil, Lee's Summit, MO; one brother, Jack Gordon and wife, Carolyn, Nevada, MO; two sisters, Rosalee Potter and husband, Rollin, Lamar, MO and Edna Mae Rice and husband, Howard, Lamar, MO; five grandchildren, Tina Miller and husband, Shane, and Keri Lysaght and husband, James, Lee's Summit, MO, Tara Vermillion and husband, Wayne, Adrian, MO, Kacie Robey and husband, Doug, Butler, Cameron Hough, Butler and seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Emma and Noah Miller, and Bailey Lysaght, Lee's Summit, MO, Drake and Daylyn Vermillion, Adrian and Zayne Robey, Butler.
