Duane Powell Phillips, 76, Grandview, MO, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Spring Valley Baptist Church in Raytown, MO with visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at West Union Cemetery in Cleveland, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the church.

Duane was born November 18, 1935 in Peculiar, MO to Roy and Ora (Powell) Phillips. He married Carol Adams on June 4, 1966. Duane worked for Hallmark Cards, and then was in finance for 51 years at Hickman Mills Bank (UMB Bank) and North American Savings Bank. He was a long time member of Spring Valley Baptist Church. Besides his service as a youth leader and deacon, Duane served faithfully for 50 years as the church pianist and organist. He also served in several offices (including president) of the Missouri Safe Deposit Association.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and their husbands, Naydean (Elmer) Adkins, Nona (Allen) Kirk, Glessie (John) Garten, Analeta (Gene) Rogers, and one brother, Lowell Phillips who died in childhood. Survivors include his wife Carol, of the home and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
