Douglas Lloyd Cox, a beloved husband, father, and cherished Grampy, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 63. In honor of Doug's life and the love he radiated, memorial services will be held at a later date.
Born on November 11, 1961, in Lawrence, Kansas, Doug was the son of Robert L. and Patricia A. (Greaves) Cox. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School with the Class of 1980, and went on to dedicate his career as a drywall installer, primarily working alongside his father.
A resident of East Lynne, Missouri, for the past 27 years, Doug created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and love. Doug found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time with his adored grandchildren, enjoying a good word search, mowing the lawn, or watching reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger." Doug's greatest pride was being "Grampy" to his grandchildren, a role that brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Doug's memory stands as a celebration of family, kindness, and the importance of cherishing every moment together. He will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Cox; step-mother, Joan (Pennington) Cox); sisters: Diana and Robin; step-brother, Larry Hoover; daughter-in-law, Heather; brothers-in-law: Joey and Chris: step-brother-in-law, Rick Partney; and sister-in-law, Shirley Dalton. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his sons: Jordan (Amber) Dalton, Kenny (Meagan) Cox, and Daniel (Holly) Deaton; his grandchildren: Shane, Bruce, and Wade Dalton; Beyla, Scarlett, Kolton, and Ruby Cox; Madison, Emily and Walker Bradley; and Kaleb and Chase Deaton. He is also survived by his father, Robert Cox; brothers: David (Lynne) Cox, Robert Ray (Amy) Cox, and Bradley Cox; sister, Denise Cox; step-sisters: Marilyn Partney, Linda Stevens, and Barbara (Kenny) Shoemaker; his sister-in-law, Jane (Don) Hamerle; and brothers-in-law: Jim Dalton and Tom Dalton.
