Dorthy Florentine Wilhelmson, 85, of Independence, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Vitas Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Abiding Love Baptist Church, 302 E. Pearl Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Dorthy was born January 8, 1929 in Chilhowee, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd Marion and Ethel Gertrude (Freeman) Harbit. She was a 1947 graduate of Windsor High School, Windsor, Missouri. She married Delbert W. Wilhelmson on November 27, 1946. She moved to Harrisonville in 1952 where she lived until moving to Independence in 2012.

Dorthy was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a member of Abiding Love Baptist Church in Harrisonville.

Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Delbert, on May 30, 2003, a brother, Freeman Harbit, two sisters, Mary Ann Fetters and Marcella Schott. She is survived by two sisters, Sandra Kay Miller and her husband, Curtis, and Zella Lou Johnson, all of Independence, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
