Obituary

Dorothy A. Wolfe, 90, Raymore, MO, has earned her angel wings. Dorothy, playfully known as "Dort", peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Raymore, MO. Funeral services were held Monday, May 22 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grandview Christian School, 12340 Grandview Road, Grandview, MO 64080.

Dorothy was born April 21, 1927 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of C. Nelson and Ruby M. (Stoner) Murray. She attended a one-room school in Bethel, KS for her early school years. She attended Adrian High School to finish up her education. On March 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Wolfe after eloping to Fort Scott, KS. Dorothy met Kenny after a date she had fell through. It was to be a double date and she needed a date, so she grabbed the hand of a man in the restaurant and said, "You'll do; come on with me." She never dreamed that he would end up the "love of her life." After Dorothy's mother found their marriage license (a few weeks later), Dorothy and Kenneth moved to Adrian to make their home. They lived in Adrian until 1968 when they moved to Lee's Summit, MO and then later welcomed their daughter, Kenette "Kit" into the world.

Dorothy worked as a key punch operator for the Marine Finance Center for several years until the Marine Corps forced her to retire. She enjoyed working with her hands, whether it was crocheting, cooking, ceramics, flower arranging or gardening. She especially loved reading her Bible and talking to God. She also loved to tell stories of her upbringing and life experiences to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, a sister, Helen Vinkenes, and a brother, Nelson "Butch" Murray. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kit Duewel and husband, Rick, Raymore, MO; grandson, Jason Duewel and wife, Suzanne and their children, Grace and Tyler; granddaughter, Andrea Flathers and husband, Brandon and their son, Rylan; brother, Charles Murray and wife, Naomi, Butler, MO; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Wolfe, Adrian, MO and Sandy Murrary, Houston, TX; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
