Dorothy Lee Loyd, 85, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023  at  the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Interment  in Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.

Dorothy was born December 1, 1937 in Peculiar, Missouri, a daughter of Carl Jesse and Callie Lulu (Hoenshell) Urton. She was a lifelong resident of Peculiar and a 1955 graduate of Peculiar High School.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Ervin Lee Loyd on May 16, 1964.

She worked as a newspaper carrier for the Kansas City Star for 22 years before her retirement. Dorothy loved working in the yard, her garden and her flower beds.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; a step-daughter, Crystal; a brother, Carl; and two sisters, Violet and Kathryn. She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Boos and Micheal (Diana) Boos, both of Peculiar; two daughters, Michelle (Todd) Kunze, Omaha, NE; and Deborah Gudde, Independence, MO; two step-sons, Gerald "Jerry" Loyd and Brian Loyd; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
