Obituary

Dorothy Jean Bledsoe, 76, Peculiar, MO, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Saint Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services 10:00 AM Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Visitation 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday, March 16 at the chapel. Burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar. Contributions to American Heart Association.

Dorothy was born October 2, 1931 in Mapleton, Bourbon County, KS, the daughter of Roy S. and Grace F. (Brentrup) Brown. She married Henry D. (Bud) Bledsoe II on June 30, 1951 in Kansas City, MO. This union was blessed with two daughters, G. Jeanine Dusselier and Tammy S. Vanderpool and one son, H. Dukes Bledsoe III.

Dorothy was a graduate of SE High School in Kansas City, MO. She had lived in the Peculiar, MO area for over 40 years. She loved antique shopping and traveling and visiting the state capitols. She also enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, flower gardening, playing cards and board games and spending time with her children and her grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peculiar, MO.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ray D. Brown of Bloomington, IL and one sister, Patricia K. Doupnik of Melbourne, FL. She is survived by her husband, Bud; two daughters, G. Jeanine Dusselier and her husband, Paul, Raymore, MO and Tammy S. Vanderpool, Peculiar, MO; one son, H. Dukes Bledsoe, III, Lee's Summit, MO; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
