Dorothy Lucille Aurand, 91, of Adrian, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Crown Rehab and Care Center in Harrisonville, MO; she was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. A visitation was held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO, followed by a graveside service at Sharon Cemetery in Drexel, MO. Contributions may be made to One Community Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Dorothy was born on January 18, 1933, in Deepwater, MO, to Leslie and Cleo (DeLance) Bohannon. After graduating from Harrisonville High School in 1950, Dorothy married the love of her life, Mervin "Bud" Aurand, on August 25, 1950. She dedicated her life to her family and the dairy farming industry. As a respected dairy farmer, she worked tirelessly to ensure the well-being of her animals and the success of the farm. Dorothy's hard work and dedication earned her the admiration and respect of those in the agriculture industry until she retired in 1998.
In addition to her passion for farming, Dorothy had a variety of interests and talents. She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, making beautiful quilts, and engaging in spirited card games with her friends including pinochle and dominoes. Dorothy's selfless and compassionate nature endeared her to everyone she met. She possessed a kind and gentle spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer comfort and support to those in need. Her unwavering love and devotion to her family were evident in every aspect of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Adrian.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Bud, on September 5, 2010; and her brothers, Francis Bohannon and Dick Bohannon. She is survived by her children: Mike Aurand of Adrian, MO; Derek (Erin) Aurand of Adrian, MO; Judy (Bart) Kay of Reed Springs, MO; and Machelle (Thomas Snead) Aurand of Archie, MO. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, her brother Terry (Shirley) Bohannon, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
