Doris Jean Young, 93, of Pleasant Hill, MO, formerly of Peculiar, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, MO. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Interment in the Peculiar Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.

Jean was born on April 13, 1930 in Gasconade, MO, the daughter of Voyd C. and Dolly R. (Brown) Clifton. Jean attended Hermann High School, graduating with the Class of 1948, in Hermann, MO. She married Darold E. Young in 1954. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Peculiar, MO in the town where she had lived since 1965.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darold; and her brother, Voyd C. Clifton, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cherie Reese of Pleasant Hill, MO; her son, Jeffrey (Wendy) Young of Sapulpa, OK; four grandchildren: Stephen W. Reese, Jr. of Pleasant Hill, MO; Aaron N. (Rachel) Reese of Kansas City, MO; Jennifer Lynn (Vincent E.) Wenker of Sapulpa, OK; and Jesse C. Young of Skiatook, OK; and 6 great-grandchildren: Nikolas S. Reese, Zakary Reese, Olivia Jean Wenker, Wesley Young, Clifton Young, and Melynda Young.
