Doris Lorraine Winders, 77, Peculiar, MO, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 19 at the chapel. Burial will be in Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.
Doris was born April 26, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Jack Newton and Thelma O. (McNeece) Vaughn. She was a 1952 graduate of North Kansas City High School and had attended IBM Business School.
She worked for Kroger Baking Company and Bank of America at the Ward Parkway location in Kansas City, MO, for 15 years, as head teller.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Eugene Winders on December 27, 1990, one grandson, Scotty Nichols, one step-grandson, Marvin Cave, III, son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Sarick, and her companion, Wilbur Moretine. She is survived by three daughters, Denise Sarick, Belton, MO, Carla Cave and husband, Marvin, Harrisonville, MO and Sherri Knox and husband, Darell, Harrisonville, MO; 2 grandchildren, Dustin Nichols and wife, Anna, and Karen Wagner; 4 great-grandchildren, Andrew Nichols, Isabella Nichols, Katelyn Nichols and Bryan Wagner; 1 step-granddaughter, Jessica Cave and 4 step-great-grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony, Haleigh and Kristopher and her pride and joy, her dog, Pixie.
