Doris D. Edwards, 89, of Harrisonville, MO died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

Doris was born December 20, 1926 in Clinton, MO, a daughter of Hershel Calvin and Ora Lee (Shank) Delozier. She lived in Clinton until moving to Harrisonville in 1941. Doris was a 1944 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Doris began working at the State Social Security Commission, Division Of Welfare, (Division Of Family Services), as a stenographer in 1943, while still in high school. She worked ten years as a stenographer, ten years as a caseworker , and thirty years as a supervisor, before retiring in 1993 after fifty years. On January 6, 1956 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Edwards in Harrisonville. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville since 1941.

After retirement, Doris began volunteering at the hospital as a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, working in the gift shop. She just recently received her 6000 hour pin.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy, who died April 11, 1971, and two brothers, William Kenneth Delozier and Calvin Dale Delozier She is survived by one son, Robert Edwards and his wife, Kathy of Harrisonville, one sister Ailene Foster of Harrisonville, and three grandchildren, Myles Peterson, Trenton Peterson, and Micaela Edwards.
