Born on September 29, 1931, in Austin, MO, Donna was the beloved daughter of John Edward and Mytle Matilda (Harper) Crotty. Her early years were spent in Austin before her family moved to Harrisonville in 1946, where she graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1949. She was a longtime resident of Kansas City, Kansas, where she made her mark as a dedicated employee for the Kansas City Kansan newspaper. Later, she moved back to Harrisonville, where she became a charter member of Faith Baptist Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life and a source of comfort. Donna's life was a testament to faith and community; she dedicated her time to teaching Sunday School and supporting Vacation Bible School, nurturing the spiritual growth of many young hearts.
On October 12, 1950, Donna married her soulmate, Gerriard "Jerry" Clary, at Freeman Baptist Church, beginning a partnership built on love and laughter. As a devoted homemaker, Donna cherished her time caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. Donna's warm spirit shone brightest in the company of family, where she treasured moments spent playing cards with friends and family, watching Kansas University basketball games, and celebrating gatherings filled with joy. Donna was a steadfast presence in her family's lives, guiding them with her wisdom, sense of humor, and care.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Clary, on August 6, 2007; her sisters: Norma Fields and Helen Bailey; her niece, Elayne Jones; and her son-in-law, Don Bell. She is survived by her daughters: Becky Bell of Savannah, MO; and Deborah Clary of Trenton, Michigan; as well as, her grandchildren, Corinne (Ken) Erich and Nicholas (Jezyl) Bell; great-grandchildren: Kirby (Rozelyn), Carissa (Matt), Asher, Kaysen, Faith, Hope, Ashley (Sterling), Maggie (Shane), Kenneth, Calvin (Whitney), Cyrsten (Tanner), and Shawna; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her profound impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
