Donald "Don" Eugene Plunkett, 93, of Peculiar, Missouri, left this world on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. A visitation was held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Graveside service, with military honors, were held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Peculiar Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.

Don was born on December 1, 1931, in East Lynne, MO, to Albert C. and Emma M. (Prisner) Plunkett. A proud graduate of Peculiar High School, Class of 1949, Don went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from June 25, 1951, until June 17, 1955. As a Gunners Mate 2nd Class aboard the USS Bremerton, he forged lifelong friendships and cherished memories during his service, a time he held dear to his heart.

In 1959, Don married the love of his life, LaVon "Bonnie" Cobb, embarking on a beautiful journey together filled with love and laughter. He was a devoted father to his four children: Travis, Patty, Pam, and Paula. Don also found immense joy in his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. Don spent over 20 years as a truck driver for JA Tobin Construction in Kansas City, Kansas, proudly affiliated with the Teamsters. Beyond his professional life, Don was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in nature through activities like hunting for mushrooms and arrowheads. His crafty nature allowed him to create and share beauty, leaving a legacy of craftsmanship and creativity.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie; and his sister, Alberta. He is survived by his son, Travis (Holly) Plunkett; his daughters: Patricia (Clint) Hooper, Pamela (Ed) Henuber, and Paula (Mark) Sundquist; 8 grandchildren: Christin Bird, Caleb Hooper, Edward Henuber, Kaitlyn Henuber, Jeremy Kauffman, Kylee Kauffman, Mitch Sundquist, and Max Sundquist; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Sundquist.
