Donald "Eddie" Edward Spangler, 68, Peculiar, Missouri, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Atkinson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund.

Eddie was born August 3, 1945 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the son of Donald L. and Rita "Bonnie" L. (Redwine) Spangler. He was a 1963 graduate of Kingsville High School and was a lifelong Cass County, Missouri resident. Eddie married Kathy Trent on December 12, 1972 in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked in residential and commercial construction as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Norman. Eddie is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home; sons, Donald E. Spangler (Melinda), Harrisonville, Missouri, Jeff Spangler, Harrisonville, Missouri, Tony Spangler (Shannon), Grain Valley, Missouri and Jason Spangler (Annie), Peculiar, Missouri; one daughter, Kellie Waters (Jay), Butler, Missouri; one brother, Bill Spangler (Ellen), Joplin, Missouri; two sisters, Donna Lear, Junction City, Kansas and Linda Sewell (Sonny), Nevada, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
