Diana Mae Sanders, 84, Freeman, Missouri, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2016 at Research Hospital after a courageous battle with lung disease. In honoring her wishes, Diana was cremated and will be buried in the Freeman Cemetery in a private service.
Diana was born July 6, 1931 in Preston, Missouri, the daughter of Gilbert Staul and Eva Mae (Brewster) Anderson. On January 22, 1954 she married Leroy Sanders in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Diana's greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family. She was a caring person, taking great pride in being a mother, grandmother and finally a great grandmother. That will be her legacy and will be what family and friends will most remember. The last couple of years, as she dealt with her physical challenges, her great grandchildren gave her the strength to never give up and push forward to each new day
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy, and a brother, Gilbert Anderson, Jr. Surviving her are her three sons, Lance Sanders, Scott Sanders and Shawn Sanders; 4 grandchildren, Marcie Sanders, Kylie Sanders, Tyler Sanders and Lauren Shurtliff, and 3 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Leroy and Rowan.
Diana Mae Sanders is gone but will never be forgotten in the hearts of all that loved her. Stories of Grandma Di will be told over and over to her great grandchildren so they too will know and remember this remarkable human being.
The family would like to thank all of her friends for their years of friendship, support and companionship.
