Della was born February 7, 1942 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Carl Joseph and Dorothy (Stropes) Vigliatura. She lived in Kansas City, MO before moving to Harrisonville in 1968. She married Lyle E. Saffell on October 22, 1960 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO.

Della worked for the Caravan Hotel in Harrisonville as a housekeeper for 23 years. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Lyle Saffell, of the home; two sons, Eddie Saffell and his wife, Debbie, Grain Valley, MO and Paul Saffell, and his wife, Lori, Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Joe Vigliatura, Parkville, MO; four sisters, Carol Barton, Highland, IN, Mary Donna Garcia, Kansas City, MO, Sandy Quackenbush, Smithville, MO and Joann Fontana, Gladstone, MO; two granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
