Delia M. Gile, 91, Peculiar, MO, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services 11:00 AM Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the chapel. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Delia was born March 10, 1917 in Wolsey, SD, the daughter of Ivyl and Anna (Weingartner) Lockwood. She married Clyde Gile on April 24, 1937 in Olathe, KS.
Delia worked as a cook for Westridge School District in Kansas City, MO. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, sewing, quilting and working word puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Delia was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Estelle Lockwood, one sister, Vira Lockwood and one grandson, Edward Clark. She is survived by her husband, Clyde, of the home; two sons, Kenneth Gile and his wife, Misti, Peculiar, MO and Ivyl Gile and his fiancée, Grace Clark, Deepwater, MO; one daughter, Myra Clark, and her husband, Fred, Moberly, MO; one sister-in-law, Bernice Lockwood, Winston Salem, NC; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
