Delbert Wayne Sims, 78, Independence, MO, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Corning Hospital in Corning, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Delbert was born September 30, 1932 in Odessa, MO. He married Phyllis Yvonne McMickle on April 1, 1952 in Miami, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis on October 24, 1990, five brothers and one sister. He is survived by four sons, James W. Sims and his wife, Debra, Pleasant Hill, MO, Billy Joe Sims, Independence, MO, Charles Lee Sims and his wife, Joyce, Independence, MO and Delbert W. Sims, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, Independence, MO; four daughters, Glenda Morena and her husband, David, Independence, MO, Cindy Brandon and her husband, Randy, Corning, IA, Gwen Nelson, Belton, MO and Betty Jo Morley, Clinton, MO; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
