Deborah Earleen Downey, 62, Peculiar, MO, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial services were held Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Deborah was born May 9, 1955 in Lee's Summit, MO, the daughter of Eugene and Hallie (Louder) Butler. She married Robert Eugene "Gene" Downey on October 24, 2009. Deborah was a long-time Cass County, MO resident. She had lived in Kansas City, MO before moving to Garden City, and to Peculiar for the past 22 years. Deborah had worked as a cook for local restaurants.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; two sons, Mike Payne, Savannah, GA and Robert "Gene" Hardman, Peculiar, MO; two daughters, Dawn Payne, Drexel, MO and Dana Powell, Leavenworth, KS; four sisters, Dixie Wayman, Kearney, MO, Patty Clark, Harrisonville, MO, Martha Thorne, Reader, West Virginia, and Sandra Stephens, Sugar Creek, MO, and nine grandchildren.
