Dean Waltmire, 88, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. No services.
Dean was born August 15, 1927 in Raymore, Missouri, the son of Jonathon Jerome "J.J." and Lena (Phillips) Waltmire. He grew up in Raymore and was a graduate of Raymore High School. Dean was a Korean War Army Veteran. He married Jean Highley on May 30, 1957. They moved to Harrisonville in 1962.
Dean was a rancher and farmer and enjoyed watching and participating in rodeos. He was a member of VFW Post 4409, Harrisonville. He was also a member of the Missouri Cattleman's Association and the Raymore Christian Church.
Dean is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; four daughters, Brenda Gibson, Pahrump, Nevada, Charlotte Hillman, California, Cheryl Rabourn, Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Terrie Freeman, Brighton, Colorado; one brother, Marion Waltmire, Princeton, Kansas; one sister, Theresa Cotter, Belton, Missouri; 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
