David Donald Leighr, 72, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, MO.  Memorial services with Military Honors were held  Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville. Inurnment will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS at a later date.

David was born September 13, 1948 in Chicago, IL, a son of Donald Thomas and Mary Margaret (Downes) Leighr.  He attended K-State, Washburn University and Longview Community College.  David married Donella Long on May 6, 1973 in Manhattan, KS.  He had lived in Topeka, KS before moving to Harrisonville in 1985.

David was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.  He worked as a security guard for Sprint.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.  He enjoyed genealogy and going to flea markets.

David is survived by his wife, Donella Leighr, of the home; three sons, Joshua Isaac Leighr and his wife, Tara, Liberty, MO, Tevye Leighr, St. Joseph, MO, and David Ryan Leighr, Kearney, MO; one sister, Carol Leighr, Salem, OR; a cousin, Eric Manchester of Canada, and 8 grandchildren.
