David Dwain Hooper, 72, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Blue Springs Wellness and Rehab in Blue Springs, Missouri. Cremation will take place, and the family will hold a celebration of David's life on a date to be announced. Inurnment will be at MO State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
David was born on September 14, 1952, in Urbana, MO, to Harold and Mary Lou (Vittitoe) Hooper. Growing up in Urbana, David was a man of many talents and passions. After graduating high school, he honorably served in the United States Navy for six years before transferring to the National Guard, embodying a sense of duty and dedication that defined much of his life. Following his military service, David pursued his education at Calgary Bible College, graduating in 2002 with his Bachelor of Science in Organization Leadership, with honors. He dedicated his time to serving as a minister at a local nursing home, where he brought comfort and hope to those in need.
David's career as an electrician began with his apprenticeship through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), where he honed his skills and earned his license. He then spent over two decades at Honeywell, where his expertise and strong work ethic made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company.
A man of adventurous spirit, David loved to travel, embracing opportunities to engage in mission trips that took him to Africa and Jerusalem, among other places. He was also passionate about riding motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidsons, often hitting the open road with a smile on his face. When he wasn't on an adventure, he enjoyed home-brewing beer. A true animal lover, David had a special place in his heart for strays, taking in those in need and providing them a loving home.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Danny Hooper. He is survived by his son, Paul (Rikki) Johnston; his daughter, Aubrey Johnston; his grandson, Troy Johnston; his sister, Dawn Wiggins; and his brother, Garland Hooper.
