Daryl DeWayne Creason, 73, Raymore, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Raymore, with visitation from 12:30-1:30. Inurnment will be held in Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
Daryl was born December 15, 1945 in Kansas City, MO, a son of Charles and Effie (Lilly) Creason. He was a graduate of North Kansas City High School. Daryl was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving from 1965-1969. While in the Navy, he served on two different ships, USS Vulcan AR5 and USS Wright CC2. After his discharge from the Navy, Daryl earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Northwest Missouri State University and a Masters in Safety Education from Central Missouri State University. He married Gayle Carpenter on December 3, 1983 in Kansas City, MO. He had lived in Grandview, MO and Lee's Summit, MO before moving to Raymore in 2011.
Daryl taught Industrial Arts at Hickman Mills High School for four years. He then worked for Honeywell (Allied Signal) as a safety engineer, retiring after 23 years. He enjoyed fishing and reading. In his younger years, he loved water skiing and canoeing. He had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Raymore since August 30, 2015, where he was a greeter/usher and served and helped any way possible. He loved talking to people, especially about his love and faith in God and service in the Navy.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Gayle Creason; two daughters from a previous marriage, Shari Creason and Michelle Ross (Creason); step-daughter, Lisa Hatfield; one brother, Jack Creason; 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Elijah, Sierra, Angelena, Elliott, A. J., and Andre; niece, Christy and nephew, John Charles, and many friends.
